NUTTZO FOR LOCAL BUTTER
When San Diegan Danielle LiVolsi adopted two young boys from the Ukraine, she found they were vitamin deficient. So LiVolsi searched for ways to pump up their small bodies with nutritious foods. One of the recipes she came up with was NuttZo, a nutty organic spread filled with Omega-3. Among the ingredients are Valencia peanuts, cashews, almonds, Brazil nuts, sunflower seeds, flax seeds, and hazelnuts. The result is chunky and crunchy and perfect in a sandwich, cookies, and added to oatmeal. You can find NuttZo at Bristol Farms, Whole Foods, Henry’s (Sprouts), and Village Mill Bread Company. -by Caron Golden
